First book is "The Lies of Locke Lamora", written by Scott Bakker (sp?). Fantastic fantasy book set in a city reminiscent of the Renaissance Venice, focuses on a group of orphaned thieves and the city itself. It's like a heist book combined with Name of the Wind & ASOIAF. My 3rd favorite series behind ASOIAF & Kingkiller Chronicles.Witcher books are more easy to digest, not as "dark" as ASOIAF can be at times and maybe more importantly, looks to have a proper ending.
