Ryokans in Hakone are very expensive. I went to Nanpu-so, which was extremely expensive, more than I've ever spent on a hotel room in my entire life by a large margin. I chose to do the "whole shebang" ryokan experience just this once, since I did have the money and didn't think I would be back in Japan in a long, long time.
