The Monster Slayer Ranger appears in Xanathar’s Guide to Everything alongside the Gloom Stalker and Horizon Walker subclasses. Role in the Party. Monster Slayer Rangers focus on pumping out as much damage as possible against a single target. They want to get a lock on the biggest threat and relentlessly focus them down.

Imagine that a Horizon Walker teleports into range of an enemy which has taken the Ready Action in anticipation of this, attacking as soon as the Horizon Walker finishes teleporting. If the attack kills the Horizon Walker, then they can't attack and they've broken their "promise" to attack after teleporting.The Horizon Walker 5e is both strong and dexterous, dishing out plenty of damage while teleporting all over the battlefield. This is a Ranger who’s very hard to hit, comes with an excellent selection of 5e spells, and generally feels super satisfying to play. The expanded spell list is what really interests me about the horizon walker. Any ranger list that lets you try something other than hunters mark (ie haste) is a god send, and teleportation circle gives you a break from survival based travel.
